No, I don’t have my headline wrong.
As well as the British royal wedding of Prince William & Catherine Middleton, today is my Mom & Dad’s birthday. Yes, the same day — three years apart.
Dad is 76 & Mom is 73 years young. Congratulations to you both — I hope the next year brings you lots of joy.
Mom is a royal’s fan so I’m sure she’s tickled pink that the future king & queen chose this date to get married on. To celebrate this year, Dad & her get to ride in a royal carriage [thanks to The Graphics Fairy].
Her mother [my Nana] immigrated from Scotland when a child & her only trip back to the ‘Old Country’ was for Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. Less than three years later my Mom & Dad would marry — this picture is them signing the wedding register January 7th, 1956 at Knox United Church in Calgary.
With England honoured, I added another touch of Europe in the Vintage French postcard & music sheet background [again thanks to Karen at The Background Fairy].
The beautiful blue flower garland also comes by way of The Graphics Fairy — yup, a great resource for vintage graphics.
I pulled out a few flowers for Mom’s bouquet, then lowered the opacity to soften the bright colours just a little.
Happy Birthday Mom & Dad
May there be Many More
Lots of Love,
